Ik exposeerde deze foto tijdens de Zomersalon 2014 in Kadmium, Delft, en Ireen de Vries heeft hem gekocht. Hier zie je hem hangen boven haar tafel in de woonkamer.

De beestjes worden gelucht

Na jarenlang binnen te hebben gestaan, eerst op de vensterbank met uitzicht op de gracht, en daarna op een kast in mijn werkkamer, hangen de beestjes nu lekker luchtig buiten, in afwachting van een nieuwe plek. Indertijd gemaakt naar aanleiding van mijn beestjestekeningen door Dorothy Wedderburn.

Hiervan kan een eindeloze serie gemaakt worden, met steeds nieuwe koppen. 

Mijn eerste bericht op 18 februari 2004 schreef ik in het Engels naar aanleiding van het googelen van mijn achternaam 'Stek'

Als je dit recept hardop probeert te lezen, krijgt het de komische lading die ik er ongetwijfeld uithaalde toen ik dit voor het eerst las. Ik heb de site gecheckt, en de tekst is nu ook in het Engels en het Duits te lezen. Tien jaar geleden was hij alleen nog maar in het Pools. Hij wordt trouwens onderhouden door mensen uit Plonsk. Ook een grappige plaatsnaam.
Als ik in Amerika mijn achternaam Stek zeg, denken ze altijd dat ik 'steak' bedoel. Dan kan ik een ingewikkeld verhaal over de betekenis van 'Stek' gaan houden ('plek voor vissers' of  'stukje van een plant'), maar ik kan natuurlijk ook gewoon zeggen, het is Pools voor 'steak'.
Het veranderen van mijn naam in Flora Biefstuk of Beefsteak is ook een mogelijkheid, maar wat voor indruk wek je met zo'n naam?
In ieder geval feliciteer ik mijzelf op deze plaats met het 10-jarig bestaan van mijn weblog.

Time for our mystery recipe

Pita bread with steak, feta and oregano. I can't decipher the rest of the information, but it's nice to fantasize if 'pomidorow' will be tomatoes and what kind of vegetables 'pieprzu' and 'puszka' will be. I found this when typing in 'stek', my last name, in Google's search machine. The name of this sandwich sounds like they don't want it no more... Srodziemnomorski... It's fun to spell these words out loud. Are they Russian, Polish or from the Balkan?

0,5kg stek top sirloin (krzyz˙owa górna)  bez kos´ci, grubos´c´ 2,5cm
4 pita breads, ciep?e
1/4  szklanki pokruszonego sera feta 

Przyprawy:
2 ?yz˙eczki oliwy z oliwek
2 za˛bki czosnku, zmiaz˙dz˙one
1 ?yz˙eczka suszonych lis´ci oregano
1/4 ?yz˙eczka pieprzu
Sos pomidorowy:
1 szklanka posiekanych  pomidorów                                                                                                         1 puszka ( 6 dkg)  oliwek pokrojonych, osuszonych
1/3 szklanka siekanej cebuli
2 ?yz˙ki gotowej w?oskiej przyprawy
